Button Cards

So my crafty friend Ang who is part of the facebook group that I'm in set a challenge for a card swap this month & it was a brilliant challenge!
We had to use buttons as the main focus of the card so no using as embellishments.
Ang posted this link to give us some inspiration & I love the technique.
This is what I came up with.
Photobucket
I used my eCraft & MTC to cut out the circles & rings to make the giant button.
I tore paper to make the "hills" & used ProMarkers to colour the sky & add some birds. I stamped the sentiment which is a from a Hero Arts set in Distress ink & added some Glamour Dust to the tops of the hills!!
Photobucket

I made a second card for the challenge because I was out in my craft room making a card for an order & had a brain wave!
this is what I came up with

Photobucket
The buttons are handmade again!
I used my heat tool to melt the organza ribbon, it looks fantastic. I got the idea from here. This lady will be teaching at the GBCE which I will be going to on the 30th of September & I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Crafy Queens Mini Album!!

Eve from Crafty Queens had a tutorial in the 3rd issue of Crafting Ireland starting on page 31! I decided to give it a go yesterday & spent nearly the whole afternoon making & decorating it! Unfortunately I was too dim to follow Eve's directions for the pages so came up with my own solution & used DL envelopes!!
I then spen the day today going through years of photos to print off for my mini album & it is now finished!!
Here it is!

I just love this, I used my Basic Grey Sultry papers that I haven't been able to bring myself to use on cards. Now I can look at them forever!!
Not only am I going to Jackie Mooney's workshop on the 21st of this month, I will also be going to my first ever scrapbooking class run by Eve from Crafty Queens so I am very excited about both & feeling very much like a lady of leisure lol!!

Here is my tutorial for the DL envelope pages for the mini album!!
Photobucket
*Seal 2 DL envelopes (2 envelopes make 1 page & 1 page holds 10 photos, 2 on the actual page & 8 on the 3 tag's)

Photobucket
Cut 3 of the ends of the envelopes off!

Photobucket
Score & fold 1 open end on each of the envelopes

Photobucket
Turn the envelopes so that the folded ends are furthest apart & lay the envelope that still has the closed end on top & the envelope with both ends opened on the bottom & then stick them both together!
Before you stick both together you need to think about how you are going to stick them into your album. I used a sheet of A4 light cardstock & scored it so I had 4 raised strips of about 1 inch & in between them was a small strip I could put DS tape on. I stuck each of the 4 strips in between the 2 envelopes & then stuck the rest of the envelopes!! I hope that makes sense?!?!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Next you need to make your tags & decorate the panels of your envelope pages!!

My eCraft wall art!

I bought the vinyl to do some kind of word art on my newly decorated craft room wall! I decided to give it a bash the other night!
This is what I came up with.
Photobucket
I done this using the eCrafts own software & the Fundamentals & Swils & Flourishes SD cards!
I'm happy enough with it
(for now ;) )

A day of colouring & some more ProMarker colour combo's

So the other day I spent the whole day just colouring in & messing around with my ProMarkers. I have to say I am really enjoying using them & getting the hang of different combinations of the colours!
My daughter spent the day colouring in with me but wasn't too happy that she couldn't use my ProMarkers, I did let her use them a long time ago but after a few split nibs from trying to put the cap's back on my markers were a no go!
She wasn't too happy & kept hinting that I had way better colours than her so we made a deal! She has to be very very good & help out around the house & in return I will buy her some of her own big girl markers!
So I have just ordered her the blue set of Spectrum Noir pens by Crafters Companion from the Joanna Sheen website!! Who knows if they are any good sure I can borrow hers if she will let me lol!!
Any how here are a few images I coloured in the other day!

I have been published woohoo!!

Photobucket
I decided to submit a card I had made while playing around with the
Mami Doodles Ligia images to Crafting Ireland & I got an email this
weekend to let me know that my card had been chosen to be published!!
I am very honoured to have my card in Crafting Ireland as Jackie Mooney who runs the workshop I have not missed since April 2009 had a stunning card published in the first ever issue & Jess Meyer who's workshops I have also attended was published in the second issue! Also this in this issue (the third) the Spotlight On feature is on Elisa Nishimura who is the designer behind Mami Doodles.
Here is the card I submitted!

Some more ProMarker colour combo's.

Here are a few more colour combos for ProMarkers!
Most of the recent cards I made had images I had already coloured in so
I couldn't remember the ProMarkers I had used so I am going to start writing
the colours onto the back of the image in future so I don't forget!!
Photobucket Photobucket
I find the best way to blend the colours is to start with the darkest then add the middle colour going over the darkest colour once but going along the line where the darkest meets the middle colour til the colours have blended, then go over the whole area with the lightest colour really quickly once & again over the line from the middle colour til its all blended!!
Hope I haven't made that sound complicated because it really isn't lol!!
